Edison College has organised two job fairs for the Health Care Assistant Program (HCA) and the Therapeutic Recreation Activity Assistant (TRAA) students last week to provide industry insights to students and prepare them for the current job market requirements.
The companies that participated in the job fair include Sidney All Care Residence, Broadmead Care, Chartwell Vista, Selkirk Seniors Village, Amica On The Gorge and others.
Both job fairs got excellent responses from the companies as well as from students. The aim of these job fairs was to bring current students and the industry officials under one roof. So that they can exchange ideas with each other, students understand the requirements of the employers, and the employers also get a window into the campus activities.
“The job fairs hosted by Edison College have played a crucial role in equipping students for the workforce. We believe these events not only offer valuable industry insights but also motivate students to achieve academic excellence,” said Rachael McPherson, Campus Director, Edison College.
She further added that we already have 6 additional job fairs booked into the calendar and are planning to organise more job fairs in the future to ensure all our students are provided with these unique opportunities.
The company officials who participated in the job fairs also interviewed the Edison College students. Current students used this opportunity to interact with the company officials and asked questions about the current job market. Edison College management also encourages students to interact with company officials so that they can prepare themselves for their practicum placements that most students have to participate in before getting their diplomas and certificates.
One of the fresh graduates of the HCA program was also hired during the Health Care Assistant (HCA) job fair at Edison College.
“Edison is a great place to start with. The facility, the teachers, and the campus director are all really nice and helpful at all times. I really enjoyed my journey here, and I would recommend this place to you guys to be a part of this facility,” said Khushi, a fresh graduate who was hired by Sidney All Care Residence during the HCA job fair.
Kiwanis Pavilion also hired Edison College’s TRAA graduate, Katia Peterson during the TRAA job fair.
Edison College administration believes campus job fairs are crucial for the professional development of students. Therefore, it has been giving immense importance to such activities and encouraging relevant companies to come to the college on various such occasions. Edison College also remains in contact with its alumni so that they can be assisted in switching jobs and other such activities.
