Program Description

The Diploma in Database Administration program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in database management. With the Database Administrator Course, students learn how to use database management systems and tools to ensure data integrity, availability, and accessibility for businesses, organizations, and institutions.

In this database administrator course, you will develop the technical expertise to design, implement, and manage complex database systems. Upon completion of this program, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to do the following:

  • Define the core concepts of databases, including data models and relational systems, through this foundational database admin course. You will learn to explain the importance of DBMS in modern business environments.
  • Develop the skills necessary to design and implement databases effectively, considering data integrity and scalability—a central focus of these database administrator classes.
  • Gain proficiency in SQL programming, including writing complex queries and performing data manipulation, as part of this comprehensive database administrator program.
  • Install, configure, and maintain various DBMS with in-depth database administrator training courses on Oracle Database, covering everything from creation to performance analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze database health using built-in and third-party tools, implementing techniques like indexing and query optimization.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard databases, including encryption, authentication, and access control, to prevent unauthorized breaches.

Admission Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent or mature student status (19 years or older before starting the program).

English language proficiency requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 10 English plus a minimum of three years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8–12) completed in English in a country where English is one of the principal languages, or
  • Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the program start date.
  • Overall minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5, or
  • Overall minimum TOEFL score of 46 (only TOEFL iBT is accepted), or
  • Overall minimum CAEL score of 40, or
  • Minimum CELPIP score of listening 6, reading 5, writing 5, and speaking 6, or
  • Overall minimum Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 95.

The Accuplacer assessment may be accepted only if

  • English is the program’s language of instruction, and the applicant is a mature, domestic student facing barriers, and the applicant cannot access their educational records or cannot provide sufficient evidence of secondary or post-secondary education.
  • The applicant provides a signed self-declaration.
  • The applicant provides attestation that they have completed at least three years of full-time instruction in English in a country where English is one of the principal languages.
  • Minimum overall reading 230 and writing 230, and WritePlacer: 4.
