This video shows one of the examples of a student demo reel that our students make in a 2D animation diploma program. Such demo reels are critical for students because they have to show some hands-on experience in the field of animation prior to taking their diploma certificate. These demo reels are particularly important for students in applying for their first jobs because they demonstrate their ability to do animation before they complete the diploma.
Edison College takes hands-on training very seriously because it directly impacts the careers of students. A good combination of theory and practicum is extremely important for a successful career in the field of animation. Edison College is the oldest animation college in Victoria, and it has been a Toon Boom Harmony Centre of Excellence since 2015. The college has been training artists for a long time to take part in the fast moving animation industry in Canada.
Join the 2D Character Animation Diploma Program at Edison College
The 2D Character Animation Diploma Program is a one-year intensive program designed to get students ready for a career as a 2D character animator. Students will learn through live practical demonstrations and theory, followed by guided in-class assignments. All courses are designed to flow one into the other with the culmination of two personal projects. All of which will be brought together into a demo reel and portfolio website, giving the students the resources to start a career as an animator while fostering their individual passion and drive through the variability of personal projects.
